All Stars Charity Event December 2009 Highlights

As a means of raising funds, KSEM linked up with the Association of Cameeronian Sportsmen in France to help in organising a charity event with proceeds going to the children’s home. The event was planned to include a fundraising dinner, a scheduled visit to the children’s Home, a football match with a select Uganda national team and a soccer clinic for children and youths. World Ventures Limited a regional Tours and travel company and Orange telecom Uganda a telecom giant funded the organisation of the event. A number of famous ex-African football players were invited to grace the events. These included Africa’s greatest playmaker Cyril Mackanaky Cameroon’s alltime top goal scorer Patrick Mboma, 1990 world cup hero Omam Biyik, his equally succesful brother Omam Biyik, 1990 and 1994 Cameroon world cup hero Maboang Kessack, Belgium-based former Rwanda National team captain Olivier Karekyezi, Kenya’s Henry Mutego, Thomas Opio and Tony Luanga.

While the organisation was not able to raise funds due to a poor turn up at the events, with the participation of the invited African legends, KSEM registered a number of successes especially regarding exposure of the organisation’s ativities. The Minister of Security who was the guest of honour at the fundraising dinner acknowlegded the work being done by KSEM together with its partners in shaping the future of Uganda’s children. Also in attendance was Uganda’s Sports Minister who commended the organisation for their contribution to the developmnt of sports in the country.
The organisation has enjoyed a wide coverage of its activities in the national media since then. With this in view the organisation is also exploring ways of how to work with a number of individuals and organisations who have expressed interest in extending a helping hand.

The football stars visited the children’s home were they shared motivational expereinces with the children. They signed autographs and took pictures with the excited children and promised to extend a helping hand in future when called upon.
