A fridge for the boys

Denise Gwatkin's recent trip to Uganda left a big mark on the lives of the children at the Orphanage. The visit though brief was remarkable for different things the charity was able to do for the boys. Apart from her daily tennis routines at the home, Denise took out the boys to Aero beach Entebbe for a fun day.

The journey to the beach was without inconveniences as the bus was stopped by the Traffic police for an offense we are yet to know. Nevertheless the boys had a nice time at the beach which is found on lake Victoria, the largest natural lake on the continent.

The charity also procured a refrigerator for the Home. The boys will have the pleasure of drinking boiled water which is then cooled. The fridge will also keep vegetables and other food stuff fresh. This means that the Home will be able to buy foodstuff in bulk to be kept cold for a longer period.

Denise also bought curtains for the Home. The new Home is a storied Bungalow with many windows. There was a lot of light coming in from the outside both during the day and in the night meaning also that the boys had no privacy from the neighbors.

Many thanks to Daniel's Promise charity for the support to the Home

Daniels Promise Trustee Visit Children's Home

We are happy to report about Denise Gwatkin's recent trip to Uganda. Denise was here on her annual visit to the Charity she helps to support. Daniel's Promise Charity supports the Kampala School of Excellence Ministries Children's Home. The charity has been extending education, feeding and shelter support for 32 boys at the Children's home in Rubaga since late 2008.

Denise was in the country between January 1st until January 11 2011 through which she was engaged in a number of activities. Denise taught the children tennis on all days during her trip and she was amazed by their adaptability to the game. Denise is a tennis coach who played for the England Tennis team during her career.

In 2008 inspired by a vision from God, Denise came to Uganda and got in touch with Daniel Ntale a retired football player who had given up football to help children from vulnerable backgrounds with soccer skills. Subsequently Denise founded the Charity Daniels Promise in the UK to fundraise support for the Kampala School of Excellence Ministries Children's Home.
